Maid to Sail Appeal
The Maid of the Loch is the last paddle steamer to be built in Britain, sailing on Loch Lomond from 1953 to 1981. She was then sold to various private owners before being rescued from sinking by a group of volunteers (now called the Loch Lomond Steamship Company) and transformed into a two star static visitor attraction.
The total cost of returning her to full steam operation is around £5.5 million and in August 2015, the project was given a Round 1 Pass by the Heritage Lottery Fund. HLF will give us £3.8 million if LLSC can raise the remaining £1.7 million. This is a huge amount but what an opportunity! This Gathering is one of many events and activities we will be undertaking over the next year to help raise this amount. Please show your support by attending this event. Thank you.
